The drought has hit Tampa hard,4 million of Tampas 8 million gallons of drinkable water is used for lawn irrigation every day. You would have thought that man kind would know better, especiaclly when more than half of the 4 million gallons is used with poor efficiency. Just today riding through I saw many Venice irrigation systems running that needed no water. With the rain we got this last weekend the turf and shrubs were fine. Prevent what has happened to Tampa and conserve water in Sarasota. If at all possible talk to neighborhood associations about getting rid of so much water thirsty turf in Sarsota and replace with Sarasota Native Plants that need watering from sprinklers only in times of drought, drought tolerant plants and trees dont even need water in Winter because they are dormant and not in feeding mode, so much simple information that could save millions of gallons of water in Sarasota .
